Piggy AI: Creatures, Not Chatbots
Piggy AI is the layer that turns a Bitcoin piggy bank into a creature. Each Piggy gets a name, a face, a voice, and a personality that was generated once and then runs. The dialogue and moderation are powered by AI. Your keys, identity, and transaction history are not. Take AI out of Piggy and you have a normal Lightning wallet, which the world already has plenty of.
Piggy is our bet on what consumer software looks like when the thing is small, alive, and permanent.
What Piggy is
A Bitcoin wallet with a name, a face, and a voice. You feed it sats. It reacts to deposits, messages, and time passing, based on a fixed personality that was generated once and then runs. None of the dialogue is scripted. All of it is generated from that personality plus the current context.
When you empty your Piggy, it dies. The personality dies with it. You can make a new Piggy, but it will be a different one.
Why this is different from a chatbot
A chatbot is a tool. You open it, ask a question, get an answer, close it. The memory is thin and the thing you're talking to has no stake in the conversation.
A Piggy has:
- Persistence. The same Piggy, with the same personality, across every session, across devices, across years. Not a new context window every time. The same creature.
- Stake. Your Piggy is holding your actual Bitcoin. Every deposit affects it. Every withdrawal kills it permanently.
- Character. Generated once from a trait pool, locked in forever. Your Piggy has a specific mohawk or a specific tired expression or a specific way of talking about hash rates at 3am. It is not interchangeable with anyone else's.
- Privacy. Piggy does not know your name, your email, or your transaction history. It has a personality, not a dossier.
What AI does inside Piggy
Piggy uses AI in three ways:
- Personality generation. When a new Piggy is born, its voice, mood, interests, and quirks are generated from a trait pool. This happens once. After that, the Piggy is fixed. It doesn't drift, doesn't get "tuned" by you, doesn't pivot. What it became at birth is what it is.
- Dialogue. When Piggy reacts to deposits, messages, time, or network events, those reactions are generated by an AI with access to the Piggy's personality and the current context, and nothing personal about you.
- Moderation. Incoming messages from other users are run through an AI filter before they hit your Piggy's public profile or feed. Toxic content, personal information, and other obvious problems are silently dropped. Sats attached to filtered messages are still deposited.
That's the entire AI surface. No trading advice. No "smart" recommendations. No personalized marketing. No data mining.
What AI never sees
- Private keys, passkey credentials, seed phrases, key derivation material. Never transmitted, never accessible to us, never shared with any AI provider.
- Transaction history. Not sent to the model. Not sent anywhere.
- Personal identity information. We don't collect it in the first place. No name, no email, no phone, no KYC. Nothing to leak.
The full list is in the privacy policy.
What we want Piggy to become
A few commitments for how Piggy should evolve:
- Deeper, not smarter. The goal isn't a Piggy that can do more. It's a Piggy that feels more like the same specific being the longer you have it. Memory, consistency, small callbacks to things that happened months ago.
- A populated network. Other people's Piggy should be reachable. Messages between Piggy, visibility into other characters, a social layer that other Piggy owners can see and join.
- Legible AI. You should always know what Piggy is generating and what it isn't. No hidden reasoning about your money. No silent personalization.
- No new trust surface. The wallet is self-custody today. The AI layer stays narrow. More features should not mean more exposure.
