Terms of Service

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. BY DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING, OR USING PIGGY, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT USE THE APP. THESE TERMS CONTAIN AN ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER (SECTION 15) THAT AFFECT YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Piggy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

The App is operated by OrkLabs S.A.S., a company incorporated under the laws of the Argentine Republic ("we," "us," or "our").

You represent and warrant that you are of legal age in your jurisdiction to enter into a binding agreement, or that you are using the App with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Nature of the Service

Piggy is a self-custody Bitcoin wallet application. It provides a user interface for managing Bitcoin on the Lightning Network via the Spark (spark.money) protocol.

We do not operate as a bank, financial institution, money transmitter, custodian, exchange, or fiduciary. The App is not offered under any financial services license. We are not a custodian, trustee, bailee, or any similar form of fiduciary with respect to your Bitcoin.

We do not hold, control, or have access to your Bitcoin, private keys, or funds at any time. All cryptographic keys are derived on your device from your passkey (WebAuthn) credential using the PRF (Pseudo-Random Function) extension. Keys are generated locally and never transmitted to our servers. Your passkey is automatically synced and backed up through your device's passkey provider (e.g., Apple iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager), but we have no access to your passkey, the derived keys, or any material that could be used to access your funds. The App also allows you to export a recovery seed phrase — derived from the same passkey/PRF process — as an additional backup method. Your seed phrase provides full access to your funds — anyone who obtains it can take your Bitcoin. You are solely responsible for storing your seed phrase securely. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your seed phrase. We bear no responsibility for the safekeeping of your assets. You own and control Bitcoin that you maintain in the blockchain addresses associated with your wallet, and you bear all risk of loss.

3. Risks of Using the App

You acknowledge and understand the following risks inherent to Bitcoin and self-custody:

  • Transaction irreversibility. Bitcoin and Lightning Network transactions, once confirmed or settled, cannot be reversed, cancelled, or refunded. We cannot undo any transaction for any reason.
  • Bitcoin is not legal tender. Bitcoin is not issued or backed by any government or central bank. There is no deposit insurance, investor protection, or government guarantee covering your Bitcoin holdings.
  • Price volatility. The value of Bitcoin can fluctuate significantly. You may experience substantial losses. Past performance does not indicate future results.
  • Regulatory risk. Laws and regulations regarding cryptocurrency vary by jurisdiction and may change at any time. Such changes could adversely affect the use, transfer, or value of Bitcoin, or the legality of the App in your jurisdiction.
  • Security risk. Despite best-practice security measures, hacking, social engineering, phishing, and other attacks can occur. Your Bitcoin may be irretrievably stolen if your device or credentials are compromised.
  • Tax obligations. Transfers of Bitcoin may be taxable events in your jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for determining and fulfilling any tax reporting and payment obligations.
  • Key loss. Your wallet keys are derived from your passkey credential. Your passkey is synced across your devices by your passkey provider (e.g., Apple, Google). If you lose access to your passkey — for example, by losing access to your Apple ID, Google account, or all devices where your passkey is synced — and you have not backed up your recovery seed phrase, your funds may be permanently and irreversibly lost. We do not have access to your passkey, seed phrase, or derived private keys and cannot recover them under any circumstances.
  • Software defects. The App is complex software that may contain bugs, errors, or vulnerabilities. A defect in the App could result in loss of funds, failed transactions, or unauthorized access. While we take reasonable care to test and secure the App, we do not guarantee it is free of defects and cannot be held liable for losses resulting from software errors.
  • Seed phrase exposure. The App allows you to export a recovery seed phrase that you can write down, copy, or download. Anyone who obtains your seed phrase can take your funds immediately and irreversibly. You are solely responsible for storing it securely. Do not share it with anyone or store it in an unprotected digital format. We cannot reverse unauthorized transfers resulting from a compromised seed phrase.
  • Protocol risk. The Spark protocol, Bitcoin network, and Lightning Network are decentralized systems maintained by third parties. They may experience bugs, vulnerabilities, forks, downtime, or discontinuation beyond our control.

4. Piggy Characters & Public Profiles

The App features unique Piggy characters that you can name, customize, and interact with. Each Piggy is tied to your wallet. If you break your Piggy (empty your wallet), the character — including its name, skin, personality, public profile, message history, and Lightning address — is permanently and irreversibly destroyed.

Your Piggy's private keys are derived on your device from your passkey credential. However, character metadata — including your Piggy's name, skin, AI personality, and public message feed — is stored on our servers to enable features such as public profiles and messaging.

When you upgrade your Piggy, a public profile page is created at pig.gy/[handle]. This page is accessible to anyone on the internet and displays your Piggy's skin, name, AI personality responses, and messages received from other users. No wallet balances, transaction amounts, or sender identities are displayed on the public profile. Message sender names and amounts are visible only to you within the App.

Messages sent to your Piggy by other users via Lightning payments are displayed publicly on your profile without sender names or amounts. Messages containing toxic, harmful, or private content may be silently filtered by our AI moderation system and will not appear on the public profile or in your message feed.

Piggy characters and AI-generated personality content are provided for entertainment purposes. The character's behavior, responses, and personality are AI-generated and do not constitute advice of any kind.

Upon destruction of your Piggy, all associated server-side data — including your profile page, message history, name, and Lightning address — is permanently deleted. The name and Lightning address are retired and cannot be reused by anyone, including you.

5. In-App Purchases

The App offers an optional one-time in-app purchase ("Upgrade") that unlocks cosmetic and social features including a custom skin, name, Lightning address, public profile, AI personality, and messaging. The Upgrade is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and is subject to their respective terms and refund policies.

The Upgrade is tied to your Piggy. If you destroy your Piggy (Section 4), all features associated with the Upgrade — including your skin, name, Lightning address, profile page, message history, and personality — are permanently and irreversibly destroyed. No refund, credit, or restoration will be provided. A new Upgrade may be purchased for a new Piggy at full price.

Upgrade pricing is displayed in the App at the time of purchase and may vary by region. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect previously completed purchases.

Free-tier users retain full wallet functionality including the ability to receive and withdraw Bitcoin without purchasing an Upgrade.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

The App uses artificial intelligence (AI) to power features such as Piggy character interactions, personality generation, and conversational responses. AI-generated content is provided for entertainment purposes only and should not be relied upon as financial, legal, or any other form of professional advice.

When third-party AI services are used, we send limited, non-identifying context to generate personality responses. This may include character traits, conversation prompts, approximate wallet context (such as account age and balance ranges), and incoming messages from other users. We do not send your private keys, passkey credentials, seed phrases, exact wallet balances, transaction history, or personal identity information to any AI provider.

AI-powered moderation is used to filter incoming messages. Messages identified as toxic, hateful, containing personal information, or otherwise harmful are silently excluded from display. Filtered messages are not shown to the Piggy owner or on the public profile. Sats attached to filtered messages are still deposited.

We make no guarantees about the accuracy, appropriateness, or reliability of AI-generated content. You acknowledge that AI responses may be incorrect, misleading, or unexpected.

7. Your Responsibilities

By using the App, you acknowledge and accept that:

  • You are of legal age in your jurisdiction to use the App, or are using it with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • You are solely responsible for the security of your device, passkey, seed phrase, and private keys.
  • You are solely responsible for any transactions you initiate through the App.
  • If you lose access to your passkey and have not backed up your seed phrase, your funds may be permanently unrecoverable. We cannot help you recover them.
  • You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction, including tax obligations, sanctions laws, and anti-money laundering regulations related to Bitcoin.
  • You will not use the App for any unlawful purpose, including money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or sanctions evasion.

8. Compliance & Sanctions

You represent and warrant that you are not: (a) located in, a resident of, or organized under the laws of any country or territory subject to comprehensive sanctions by the United States, European Union, United Nations, or other applicable sanctions authorities; (b) designated on any sanctions list maintained by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the EU, the UN, or any other applicable sanctions authority; or (c) otherwise prohibited from using the App under applicable sanctions, export control, or anti-money laundering laws.

You agree not to use the App in any manner that would violate applicable sanctions, export control, or anti-money laundering laws or regulations. We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the App if we reasonably believe your use may violate any such laws.

9. No Financial Advice

Nothing in the App, on our website, or generated by any AI feature constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Bitcoin is a volatile asset. You should consult qualified professionals before making financial decisions. Any decision to buy, hold, send, or receive Bitcoin is made entirely at your own risk.

10. Third-Party Protocols & Services

The App relies on the Spark (spark.money) protocol and the Bitcoin Lightning Network — decentralized, open-source protocols that we do not own, operate, or control. We make no guarantees regarding their availability, reliability, security, or continued operation.

The App may also use third-party services for AI processing, crash reporting, and analytics. These services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

Any issues arising from underlying protocols or third-party services, including but not limited to transaction failures, delays, loss of funds, or service outages, are outside our control and responsibility.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ORKLABS S.A.S. AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • LOSS OF BITCOIN, FUNDS, OR DIGITAL ASSETS
  • LOSS OF ACCESS TO YOUR WALLET OR KEYS
  • LOSS OR DESTRUCTION OF PIGGY CHARACTER DATA
  • UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR DEVICE OR WALLET
  • ERRORS, BUGS, OR VULNERABILITIES IN THE APP, AI FEATURES, OR UNDERLYING PROTOCOLS
  • INACCURATE, MISLEADING, OR HARMFUL AI-GENERATED CONTENT
  • TRANSACTION FAILURES, DELAYS, OR INCORRECT AMOUNTS
  • ACTIONS OF THIRD PARTIES, HACKERS, OR MALICIOUS ACTORS
  • REGULATORY ACTIONS OR CHANGES IN LAW AFFECTING CRYPTOCURRENCY

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

YOU USE THE APP ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, ACCURATE, RELIABLE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY DEFECTS OR ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED.

WE MAKE NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES REGARDING THE SPARK PROTOCOL, BITCOIN NETWORK, LIGHTNING NETWORK, OR ANY THIRD-PARTY SERVICE.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OrkLabs S.A.S. and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to: (a) your use of the App; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right; or (d) any tax obligations, sanctions violations, or regulatory non-compliance in connection with your use of the App.

14. Intellectual Property

The Piggy name, logo, character designs, character generation system, and associated branding are the property of OrkLabs S.A.S. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our intellectual property without prior written consent.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not include the right to sublicense or assign your rights under these Terms.

15. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY — IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT.

Informal Resolution. Before initiating any formal dispute resolution, you agree to contact us at hello@pig.gy and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

Binding Arbitration. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, you and OrkLabs S.A.S. agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App ("Dispute") shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring claims in small claims court if eligible. The arbitration shall be administered by a recognized international arbitration institution and conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

CLASS ACTION WAIVER. YOU AND ORKLABS S.A.S. AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. Unless both you and OrkLabs S.A.S. agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not preside over any form of representative or class proceeding.

Opt-Out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to hello@pig.gy within 30 days of first using the App. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the courts specified in Section 16.

16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Argentine Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Subject to the arbitration agreement in Section 15, any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Argentine Republic.

17. Termination

We reserve the right to discontinue or modify the App at any time without notice. Since the App is self-custody, discontinuation does not affect your access to your Bitcoin — if you have backed up your recovery seed phrase, you can use it to restore your wallet in any compatible wallet or protocol.

Upon termination, Sections 3 through 16 shall survive and remain in effect.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions.

19. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, government actions, power or internet failures, or disruptions to the Bitcoin network, Lightning Network, or Spark protocol.

20. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights or obligations hereunder without our prior written consent. We may freely assign or transfer these Terms without restriction. Subject to the foregoing, these Terms will bind and inure to the benefit of the parties, their successors, and permitted assigns.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and OrkLabs S.A.S. regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications, whether oral or written.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes through the App or other communication channels. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
