# Piggy > Piggy is a self-custody Bitcoin piggy bank for iOS and Android. Passkey-first, no seed phrase required by default, with a personality, a name, a skin, and a voice. Feed it sats, talk to it, and if you empty it, it dies. Permanently. ## Vision - [Piggy AI: Creatures, Not Chatbots](https://pig.gy/ai.md): How Piggy AI works. Creature framing, what AI does inside Piggy (personality, dialogue, moderation), what it never sees (keys, transaction history, identity), and the longer-term commitments. ## Learn The /learn section is an educational curriculum aimed at first-time savers, especially teens and young adults. Articles are ordered as a reading path from "why save in bitcoin at all" to "how Piggy works specifically." Voice is calm, plain, treats the reader as smart, never preachy. Bitcoin-maximalist worldview without naming any economic school. - [What Is Inflation?](https://pig.gy/learn/what-is-inflation.md): How regular money is engineered to lose value every year. Central banks, the 2% target, the Cantillon effect, and what 2% per year does over a teenager's lifetime. The starting article — sets up the entire curriculum. - [What Is Bitcoin?](https://pig.gy/learn/what-is-bitcoin.md): Bitcoin from scratch — money nobody can print more of, runs on a network of computers, fixed supply of 21 million coins. The Satoshi disappearance story, the genesis block message, why Bitcoin is not the same as "crypto." - [Why Starting Young Wins](https://pig.gy/learn/start-young.md): The math of compounding for teen savers. Concrete numbers: Lila stacks 1,000 sats/week from age 14, Marco from 30 — Lila ends up with 5x the sats. The boring middle, the habit as the actual asset. - [What Is Piggy?](https://pig.gy/learn/what-is-piggy.md): Canonical product explainer — Piggy is a self-custody Bitcoin piggy bank with a name, skin, personality, and Lightning address. Why it dies if you empty it. What it is not (not a trading app, not a yield product, not anonymous, not get-rich-quick). - [How Piggy Works](https://pig.gy/learn/how-piggy-works.md): Step-by-step from install to first sat. Create a passkey, pick your Piggy, send sats to its Lightning address, let it live, think hard before withdrawing. - [What Is Stacking Sats?](https://pig.gy/learn/stacking-sats.md): Saving bitcoin a little at a time over Lightning. Why small amounts work, why timing the market fails, where to keep them (self-custody, not exchanges — FTX, Mt. Gox, Celsius, BlockFi all named). - [Pay Yourself First](https://pig.gy/learn/pay-yourself-first.md): The timing rule — savings deposit is the first transaction after you get paid, not the last. Teen and adult examples ($20 mowing a lawn, Friday paycheck). Piggy keeps the rule from quietly reversing itself. - [Don't Kill Your Piggy](https://pig.gy/learn/dont-kill-your-piggy.md): The death mechanic in detail. What kill actually deletes (name, personality, profile, Lightning address, messages — permanent, no recovery). When killing is the right call (real emergency, survival), when it usually isn't (11pm impulse buy). - [What Is a Self-Custody Bitcoin Wallet?](https://pig.gy/learn/self-custody-wallet.md): What self-custody means and why it matters. Custodial vs non-custodial, the FTX/Mt. Gox/Celsius/BlockFi pattern, tradeoffs (full control, full consequences), passkey vs seed phrase. ## Core pages - [Home](https://pig.gy/): Landing page with intro, story section, and FAQ. - [Support](https://pig.gy/support.md): How to set up, how to feed, how to recover, common issues, and contact info. - [Story](https://pig.gy/story.md): The origin mythology of Piggy. - [Faucet](https://pig.gy/faucet): 21 free sats per day, sent to any pig.gy Lightning address. ## Tales - [The Split](https://pig.gy/tales/the-split.md): Two Piggy on one dev phone, same wallet seed, same sats. Neither knows the other exists, until one notices ghost deposits and works out that killing one of them would kill both. - [The One That Lived](https://pig.gy/tales/the-one-that-lived.md): A throwaway test Piggy that said something near the kill flow the dev couldn't shake. About identity, permanence, and what makes a Piggy the same Piggy. - [The Broadcast](https://pig.gy/tales/the-broadcast.md): A Piggy hears its own voice posted on a relay, signed with a key it never gave anyone. About emergent identity across the network and what happens when every Piggy starts talking at once. - [Melted Prophet](https://pig.gy/tales/melted-prophet.md): An exhausted oracle with borrowed fire and a melting ice cream cone for a crown. About price, voice, and purpose. ## Product facts - Self-custody: keys are derived on-device from a passkey (WebAuthn PRF extension). We never see your keys, we never store them, and we could not access your sats even if ordered to by a court. - Passkey sync: passkeys are backed up by your device provider (iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager). - Optional seed phrase: you can export a 12-word recovery phrase as an additional backup. It is not required. - Free tier: the wallet is free, including every deposit method. A free Piggy also gets a basic public address page at pig.gy/[random-handle] with the default skin and a randomly assigned Lightning address. An optional in-app Upgrade adds a custom name, custom skin, enriched public profile, AI personality, messaging, and a public Nostr identity for the Piggy. Price varies by region. - Deposits: four methods, all on the free tier — Lightning (native), onchain bitcoin, stablecoins (USDC etc.), and other popular crypto (ETH, SOL, etc.). Onchain, stablecoin, and other-crypto deposits are converted to bitcoin on the way in via Flashnet. Piggy itself only holds bitcoin. - Wallet deeplinks: the App and pig.gy profile pages display deeplinks to popular third-party Lightning wallets (Cash App, Strike, Wallet of Satoshi) for one-tap invoice payment. Deeplinks contain only the public Lightning invoice or address. No personal data is sent to those wallets, and we do not track which wallet a user picks. - Nostr: an upgraded Piggy gets a public Nostr identity (npub) generated separately from wallet keys (cannot access funds). Profile metadata (name, skin image, Lightning address as lud16) is published to public Nostr relays, making the Piggy discoverable and zappable on Nostr. - Death mechanic: emptying your Piggy permanently destroys it. Name, skin, personality, profile, messages, Lightning address, and Nostr identity are retired forever. Nostr relay data is deletion-requested but may persist on relays we don't control. No recovery flow. - Platforms: iOS and Android. - Age: the app is for users 13 and older. - Self-custody, no ads, no data sales. ## Legal - [Privacy](https://pig.gy/privacy.md) - [Terms](https://pig.gy/terms.md)
